In political news, Democrat-turned-Independent Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman has announced that he will filibuster with the GOP if the Democrats propose Subway or Panda Express for the Senate lunch this week. Lieberman claimed that the Democrats knew he wanted Dominos, and that he even relented last week when they forced him to order from Wendys.

“Joe has been a bit of a pain for us,” said Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid. “Whenever we want to order food, he always has to get what he wants. Like a few weeks ago, I tried to show him how diverse the menu at Quiznos was—how it was the best option for everyone—but he just started screaming, bit my arm, and ran out of the room. I had to go to the hospital because I lost so much blood.”

Despite the outcry from the left, many Republicans have praised Lieberman’s staunch lunch platform.

“We know Joe can be tough about lunch, but that’s what we like about him,” said Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell. “Who cares if Subway offers a wide array of sandwiches, Paninis, and salads for the great majority of people—you can’t just go against your ego. Personally, I could go for some sesame chicken, but I have too much respect for Joe to do that. Let him stand as an unnecessary obstacle for people. I applaud his strength.”

Even the outspoken Democrat Congressman from Florida Alan Grayson claimed, “They might just have to do what he wants, mid-day hunger is not something to toy with.”

According to sources, while Lieberman is still demanding the entire Senate order plain pizza with a side of cinna stix, moderate Democrat Ben Nelson of Nebraska—who was also seen as a lunchtime obstacle—will agree to Subway if someone splits a chocolate chip cookie with him.
